The Dove Centre also operates Dove Transport – the number one community transport provider in the West of Edinburgh.
Dove Transport seeks to provide affordable and accessible community transport to local not-for-profit community organisations within the West of Edinburgh and surrounds.
Dove Transport was established in April 2003 as part of an Urban Community Transport Initiative pilot scheme set up by the Scottish Executive. There are four partners involved in the scheme who provide community transport throughout Edinburgh. We are currently in our fifth year of funding and the project continues to thrive.
Our current fleet consists of four minibuses – three 15-seaters and one 7-seater – all of which are fully accessible. These buses are available for day or evening hires, seven days a week, with or without a driver. Please note that we cannot hire to individuals. All hires are subject to availability.
MiDAS Training
Dove Transport is pleased to offer MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training to local groups and individuals for either first MiDAS qualifications or refreshers.
MiDAS courses consist of one full day in the classroom and a 40 minute (approx.) driving assessment (to be arranged after passing the classroom session). Each part of the course costs just £28 per person.
To sit the MiDAS qualification you will need:
- A full, clean driving license
- A D1 entitlement on your driving license (for full MiDAS; individuals without a D1 can still gain a non-D1 MiDAS qualification)
- A minimum of two years driving experience
- To be aged 25 or over
Please e-mail for more information or to book a place on our next course.
